Veils of Silence

Horizontal grey bands wrap the head and neck of a figure whose eyes are covered and lips wide open — the only red in a painting of greys. Legac paints here the irreducible residue of presence: one can cover everything except breath. No frame, no gold: an absolute economy that grants the work its particular power. Oil on canvas, 150 × 150 cm, 2024.
