In this profile work — a rare departure in Legac’s practice — a figure keeps her eyes closed and her lips a vivid red. What crowns her is not jewellery, not adornment: it is a serpent, white, nacreous, coiled with the majesty of a living architecture. It does not threaten; it reigns. The figure’s body is covered in red botanical motifs — roses, butterflies — on a white robe of Eastern-influenced embroidery. A baroque gold frame encloses the scene like a reliquary. Legac constructs here an iconography of feminine power founded not on force but on inner certainty: eyes closed are not an abdication — they are a reign. Oil on canvas, 120 × 120 cm, 2025.
