Vestige

The figure in this canvas is not absent but not fully present: she occupies the space of the vestige, where the fact of having-been matters more than the fact of being. Palette of deep ochres and warm blacks, forms reduced to the essential, one or two gold fragments placed as punctuation. Legac meditates here on the trace rather than the presence, on memory rather than the event. Oil on canvas, 150 × 150 cm, 2024.
