Chrysalis

This canvas paints the intermediate state of transformation: neither the old form nor the new, but the moment of dissolution and reconfiguration between the two. Palette of amber, warm ochres and rich browns — colors of the natural chrysalis — traversed by gold leaf, promise of the future butterfly already present in the envelope. Legac paints here beauty in becoming rather than accomplished beauty. Oil on canvas, 150 × 150 cm, 2024.
