Vision Within

The figure faces us, but her eyes are covered by a patchwork blindfold — bands of teal, red, gold, and midnight sewn together. This is not a mask of ignorance: it is the instrument of a vision turned back upon itself. Small passages of colour float in the grey ground like the residues of an interior fire; the high-necked black lace dress hardens around the throat like consented armour. Legac constructs here a figure of the secular oracle: the total frontality of the pose declares that one does not need to see in order to be seen, and that truth resides where the gaze closes back upon itself.
